Management Team

FARID NAIB – CEO

Farid has 25 years of experience in the financial technology industry as an entrepreneur, investor and manager. He is also currently Chairman of Document Depository Corporation, a SaaS company for data management solutions for the private capital industry, a company he founded in 2000, and a board member of Align Alytics. Farid served as Director of Gain Capital prior to its initial public offering in December 2010. Previously, he founded FNX Limited, a leading provider of global over-the-counter trading technology to the world’s largest financial institutions. FNX was acquired by GL Trade (now part of SunGard) in 2007. Farid also has served as an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

JIM NEVOTTI – PRESIDENT

Jim joined Professional Trading Solutions in April 2014 as part of the acquisition of Sterling Trader, where he was head of Client Services and Support. While at Sterling Trader, he built teams to support thousands of traders worldwide, and was instrumental in the launch of international trading on the Sterling platform. Prior to joining Sterling in 2006, he was a proprietary futures trader at Goldenberg Hehmeyer & Co.

MARK STEPHENS – CHIEF TECHNOLOGY OFFICER

Mark joined Sterling in 2002 as a Help Desk Associate. While at Sterling, he also served as Vice President of Technical Operations. Prior to joining Sterling, he was a Trading Systems R&D Analyst for a Chicago based futures trading firm. Mark is a graduate of Purdue University and is based out of Sterling’s Chicago office.

MARK CARLSON – VICE PRESIDENT CLIENT SERVICES

Mark joined Sterling in 2006 as a Help Desk Associate. Throughout his tenure at Sterling, he has served as a Help Desk Manager. Prior to joining Sterling, he spent six years on the technical support desk at Refco supporting futures traders. Mark is a graduate of DePaul University and is based out of Sterling’s Chicago office.

RADFORD LANEY – CHIEF INFORMATION OFFICER

Rad joined Professional Trading Solutions as CIO in June of 2014. Most recently he worked as Deputy Group Information Security Officer for SunGard Capital Markets, overseeing the infrastructure, application security and compliance. Prior to that, he was Infrastructure and Security Officer for SunGard Global Trading Segment (formerly GL Trade) where he managed global interoffice and production IT infrastructure, managing 26 data rooms and supporting thousands of clients worldwide. Rad has 20 years of technology leadership in the financial services industry and is a Certified Information Risk Manager. He holds graduate degrees from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Georgia Institute of Technology.

RAVI JAIN – DIRECTOR OF RISK & DERIVATIVES

Ravi recently joined the Sterling team bringing 30 years of experience in options, quantitative trading and risk management across multiple asset classes and markets. He formerly ran the global FX and metals options trading desk for Republic National Bank and has more recently been involved in the enterprise risk area for several major banks including HSBC and BNY Mellon.

Ravi holds a PRM (Professional Risk Management) certification from PRMIA (Professional Risk Managers’ International Association) with specialization in derivatives, quantitative strategies and alpha generation and takes special interest in volatility based strategies and electronic trading.

MELINDA JOSEPH – MARKETING DIRECTOR

Melinda recently joined the Sterling team and brings over 10 years of marketing experience. She has worked in the B2B, B2C and B2G sectors. Melinda studied Marketing Communications at Columbia College Chicago where she graduated Valedictorian of her class and is based out of Sterling’s Chicago office.

ANTHONELLA VALENCIA – SOFTWARE CONTROLLER

Anthonella recently joined the Sterling team and brings over 6 years of hybrid experience in Finance and Accounting with a specialization in the financial technology services space. Prior to joining Sterling, she held a variety of roles leading strategic implementations and building out processes, assisting with mergers and acquisitions, and providing analysis that drive business decisions. Anthonella earned a Bachelor’s degree in Finance and minor in Psychology from Iowa State University.
