Accountant 2-4 years
Sterling Trading Tech (STT), a Professional Trading Solutions company, is an industry leading professional global trading network and direct access trading platform for equities, options, and futures. We are seeking a bright, resourceful, and motivated individual to assist and support the head of finance in the timeliness, accuracy and daily maintenance of the general ledger.
In this role, you will:
- Timely and accurate preparation and review of daily, weekly, and month end journal entries and supporting schedules (Fixed Assets, Prepaids, Accruals, Reversing Entries, Cost Allocations, Eliminations, Consolidations, etc.)
- Maintain Accounts Payable, including processing invoices for payment for payments on a timely basis via checks, ACHs, and wires
- Reviews all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to posting and submitting for payment
- Acquires and maintains vendor supporting documentation, including W-9 forms and takes the lead in yearly 1099 process
- Assist in the preparation of weekly cash forecast
- Work directly with customers to resolve past due balances
- Prepare customer invoices and assist with collections
- Prepare daily, monthly, and annual account analyses and/or reconciliations
- Assist with preparation of financial statements
- Assist with audit requests
- Ongoing documentation and development of internal controls
- Spot errors and recommend ways to improve efficiency and spending
- Other ad hoc projects as needed
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and/or Finance
- 2-4 years of accounting experience preferred
- Ability to take initiative, work autonomously and handle multiple demands from multiple people
- Eager to learn Sterling’s financial processes, accounting systems, business model
- Know your way around Excel
- Experience with Net Suite accounting software preferred as well as proficient with Microsoft Office systems (Access, Excel, Outlook, Word, Powerpoint)
- Experience with general ledger and the skill to read and understand technical forms and financial reports
- Ability to understand complex business matters
- Problem solver, dedicated, and reliable
